ALEXANDRIA, Va.—What’s one of the easiest ways to level up your category management game? By attending the NACS Advanced Category Management Certification program as a pre-conference add-on at this year’s NACS Show (registration for the NACS Show is required).

“In today’s competitive marketplace, retailers need to be sure their categories are preforming well,” said Doug Spencer, director, NACS Solution Center. “This year, we’re offering NACS Show attendees the opportunity to become certified in category management without missing any of the excellent NACS Show.”

The six-hour interactive workshop is tailored for experienced category management and merchandising professionals in the convenience and fuel retailing industry. Attendees will learn how to:

  • Develop a holistic brand strategy
  • Identify points of brand differentiation
  • Integrate consumer shopping behavior information into strategies for creating winning space assortments
  • Adopt price elasticity modeling
  • Utilize behavioral economic principles
  • Optimize pricing, promotions and overall profitability

“If you want to be able to clearly define brand strategy, optimize your price and promotional strategies, utilize a broad set of consumer data to better understand shopper behavior—all tied to optimizing category performance—then attend this pre-conference course,” Spencer said. “We are capping attendance at 50 participants, so don’t delay in registering to assure your seat in this game-changing course.”

For those unable to attend the NACS Show, the association offers online, self-paced courses on category management as part of its NACS Advanced Category Management curriculum. Completion of the online NACS Certified Convenience Category Manager (CCCM) course prior to this event is strongly encouraged, as having an understanding of basic category management principles are assumed during this pre-conference advanced program.

The Advanced Category Management education session will run on Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $499 per person for NACS Show attendees and $599 for NACS Show exhibit staff. To register, click here.
