ALEXANDRIA, Va.—This year’s NACS Show attendees can become certified in category management—without missing the NACS Show because the NACS Advanced Category Management Certification program is a pre-conference add-on. Registration for the NACS Show is required, and the in-person certification program is limited to 50 participants.

The six-hour interactive workshop is tailored for experienced category management and merchandising professionals in the convenience and fuel retailing industry. The workshop will focus on:

  • Developing a holistic brand strategy
  • Identifying points of brand differentiation
  • Integrating consumer shopping behavior information into strategies for creating winning space assortments
  • Adopting price elasticity modeling
  • Utilizing behavioral economic principles
  • Optimizing pricing, promotions and overall profitability

“If you want to clearly define brand strategy, optimize your price and promotional strategies, utilize a broad set of consumer data to better understand shopper behavior—all tied to optimizing category performance—then attend this pre-conference course,” said Doug Spencer, director, NACS Solution Center.

The Advanced Category Management education session runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5. The cost is $499 per person for NACS Show attendees and $599 for NACS Show exhibit staff. To register, click here.

For those unable to attend the NACS Show this year, online, self-paced courses on category management are available as part of the NACS Advanced Category Management curriculum. Completion of the online NACS Certified Convenience Category Manager (CCCM) course prior to this event is strongly encouraged. Participants should have a basic understanding of category management principles prior to this pre-conference program.
