ALEXANDRIA, Va.—Dunkin’ is making a big splash on social media with its launch of DIY donut kits available at select locations around the country.
The idea was born when an employee of a Concord, California, shop asked if she could bring home donuts, frosting and sprinkles for her nephews. After that, franchise owner Matt Cobo, began assembling the kits and selling them in two California locations.
Each box includes plain donuts and a variety of frostings and sprinkles. One location features a four-donut option with strawberry frosting, chocolate frosting and vanilla frosting, as well as two varieties of sprinkles for $7.99. There is also a nine-donut option with the same three frostings and three varieties of sprinkles for $15.99.
“This is our small way of trying to brighten someone’s day,” Cobo said in a Dunkin’ post. “The simple joy of getting to create your own donut can make kids light up, and if we can be a part of creating that moment, that makes us happy.”
Dunkin' franchisees across the country have also started to offer donut kits at participating locations, the company said. Check with your local Dunkin' to see if they're available near you.
