ALEXANDRIA, Va.—Soon ExxonMobil dealers will be providing fuel customers with a contactless payment option, reports PetrolPlaza.com.

Waze, the Google-owned map app, will automatically display a notification for contactless payment through the Exxon Mobil Rewards+ app when drivers arrive at one of 11,500 U.S. Exxon or Mobil fuel stations, the companies announced.

The seamless integration of the driving and fueling experience aims to save time and minimize contact with additional screens or PIN pads.

When the driver is at an ExxonMobil site, an arrival screen will pop up allowing the driver to access the Exxon Mobil Rewards+ app to pay for fuel. If the Exxon Mobil Rewards+ app is not installed, the Waze app integration will suggest that the driver download it from the app store.

The innovation comes after ExxonMobil’s first payment technology integration with the voice-activated Alexa, possible through Alexa-enabled vehicles or mobility devices.
