April 03, 2020

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—While the NACS State of the Industry (SOI) Summit is now the 2020 SOI Summit Virtual Experience, the sessions will be just as robust, data-rich and informative as usual, with interactive discussion boards, an “ask the presenter” Q&A forum and opportunities for attendees to engage with one another on key session topics.

From how the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is impacting consumer demands and shifting customer expectations and the ways retailers are telling their stories, to an economist’s look at the “new normal,” this year’s SOI Summit has a full slate of timely, must-see sessions. Here are  three sessions that are just the tip of the iceberg for what the SOI Summit Virtual Experience will offer convenience retailers and suppliers.

In “How Coronavirus is Reshaping Consumer Demands for Convenience,” Caitlyn Battaglia, associate client director for Nielsen, takes a close look at how suppliers, consumers and retailers are responding to COVID-19. Nielsen brings its global expertise to help shed light on how current consumer shopping behaviors could shape long-term buying patterns. She will also share insights into how retailers and suppliers can thrive during the continuing evolution of this pandemic in their markets.

In “Pivoting to Meet Communications Expectations,” Jeff Lenard, NACS vice president of strategic industry initiatives, will lead a panel that will take a look at how retailers can find opportunities to target their messaging around new consumer expectations. Panelists will also relay results from national NACS-led consumer focus groups and a March NACS retailer member survey about how convenience stores are responding to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Anirban Basu, chairman and CEO of the Sage Policy Group Inc., will give a data-driven presentation on the global, national and regional economic performances with special attention devoted to the financial, real estate, labor and construction markets in “The Return of the Economist” session. He will also give an outlook on the impact of elections and the current policy-making environments.

The 2020 SOI Summit Virtual Experience includes special enterprise-wide registration ($499 for retail companies) and will be available on-demand starting April 14. Register now to ensure you get access to the data and results you need to thrive, not just survive, in today’s changing marketplace.
