MIAMI–Burger King is once again selling tacos, for a limited time, CNN reports. The $1 Crispy Tacos have beef, lettuce, cheese and taco sauce. “We’ve seen success with tacos in our West Coast restaurants and knew it was time to bring this West Coast favorite nationwide,” said Chris Finazzo, Burger King North America’s president. The new item gives its snacks “variety,” he added.
QSRs often debut limited-time offerings to keep consumers coming back. “Tacos remain very popular with consumers,” said Neil Saunders, managing director of GlobalData Retail.
Burger King isn’t the only burger chain to add tacos. Jack in the Box’s tacos have been “a No. 1 seller and a fan favorite for years,” said Jen Kennedy, vice president of product marketing at Jack in the Box. Kennedy indicated that the menu item has been a “stand out distinction for us.” Jack in the Box also added bite-size tacos to its menu as well.
While it’s too early to tell if customers will flock to Burger King’s tacos, the chain has seen success with its Impossible Whopper, which has increased foot traffic by 18%. “The Impossible Whopper is performing very well in our test markets, and it continues to drive new traffic to our restaurants,” said Dori Robau Alvarez, a spokesperson for Burger King.
