TruAge works by verifying a person’s age, not their identity. The TruAge system creates an encrypted, single-use identity token in the cloud that verifies the purchaser’s age, date of birth and driver’s license issuer state, and that information is scanned for age-verified purchases and captured in the store’s T-log.
TruAge also can help retailers prove that they are responsible sellers of age-restricted products. The customer token, if subpoenaed by a court or regulatory action, can help retailers prove that they aren’t selling to underage purchasers, who might have been involved in an actionable event.
“TruAge has given peace of mind to my staff. It’s frictionless and adds a layer of integrity to the sometimes awkward process of asking customers for proof of age. I’m looking forward to seeing more point-of-sale providers adopt this solution into their tech stack,” said Lonnie J McQuirter, director of operations at 36 Lyn Refuel Station and NACS Board Member.
