Most operators already know what tasks need to be completed in their store. The challenge is ensuring those tasks are completed consistently across every location, shift and employee, while also proving they were done correctly.
During a recent virtual session hosted by BOHA! by TransAct titled “Operational Excellence at Scale: The Power of Integrated Checklists & Workflows,” Rich Lopez, director of customer success at BOHA! by TransAct, discussed how leading operators are connecting checklists with systems like labeling and temperature monitoring to create a unified operational workflow.
Lopez highlighted that rather than creating paperwork specifically for compliance, digital systems generate documentation automatically as employees complete tasks. This creates a reliable operational history across all locations.
Technology should help operators focus on problems rather than reviewing tasks that were completed correctly. Instead of checking whether all 20 stores completed temperature logs, managers should be alerted to the two stores where checks were missed, or temperatures were out of range, Lopez said.
This enables managers to solve operational issues faster and spend less time verifying routine tasks.
Lopez highlighted a four-step digital transformation path for a recommended rollout process:
- Digitize paper processes.
- Standardize procedures across locations.
- Connect data and reporting systems.
- Optimize by identifying trends and exceptions
