Pennsylvania-based Sheetz has teamed up with the Pittsburgh Regional Transit for a partnership centered around the 2026 National Football League (NFL) Draft in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
“The agreement allows us to offer free rides on our light rail system and the Monongahela Incline from the start of service on Thursday, April 23 through the end of the night on Saturday, April 25. The partnership is an effort to simplify travel, reduce congestion and improve access to key destinations,” the Pittsburgh Regional Transit posted on LinkedIn.
Select trains will feature Sheetz-branded elements celebrating the city. The company will also host fan activations, including giveaways, mascot appearances and social media engagement opportunities for riders.
“This weekend is all about the fans and this great city that is bringing them together,” said Ryan Sheetz, EVP of marketing and supply chain for Sheetz. “By partnering with Pittsburgh Regional Transit to cover fares during Draft weekend, we’re helping make it easier for everyone to get around so they can focus on enjoying the experience.”
Pittsburgh Regional Transit said an estimated 500,000 to 700,000 visitors are expected to come to the city for the event.
In other recent Sheetz news, earlier this month the retailer announced immediate plans to hire 500 employees in Pennsylvania. Sheetz hosted hiring events with on-the-spot interviews at each of its 315 Pennsylvania locations on March 25, as part of a “broader hiring effort” at its more than 810 locations across its seven-state footprint. In total, the company aims to hire 1,540 employees company-wide, it said.
