Huck’s Market, which operates 135 locations across the Midwest, has reached $100,000 in weekly sales for its online ordering and delivery business, according to a press release sent to NACS. The retailer said the milestone “reflects the growing role of digital commerce within Huck's broader digital transformation efforts,” and that it has continually expanded both first-party ordering and third-party marketplaces.

"For years, we’ve believed that convenience retailing has to become more digitally native," said Jon Bunch, vice president of digital marketing, technology and innovation at Huck's Market. “We've been building toward that future through deliberate investments in our stores, operations and strategic technology solutions, enabling us to serve our customers wherever and however they choose to shop."

The company worked with Vroom Delivery to centralize its delivery platform, which now includes first-party ordering on the Huck's Bucks Bigg Rewards app, Godfather's Pizza first-party ordering, and third-party marketplaces including DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub. Most recently, Huck's expanded its reach with standalone Godfather's Pizza restaurant listings on DoorDash.

“We made the decision early on that digital commerce was worth investing in, even if there weren’t always clear answers in those early days,” said Brayden Peterson, digital marketing manager at Huck's Market. “Our willingness to experiment and keep improving has paid off, and every improvement has compounded to get us to a point where we’re now doing in three weeks what used to take us an entire year. Even with that kind of growth, we believe we’re just getting started.”

Earlier this year, Huck’s Market deployed Tote, an AI point-of-sale platform for fuel and convenience retail, at Huck’s Market’s flagship location in Carmi, Illinois, with plans to roll the system out to all locations by the end of the year.

“[Tote’s system] makes the job easier. The system is cleaner and more intuitive, so associates aren't fighting the screen or memorizing workarounds. … Managers are particularly excited about the Genie AI assistant, which lets associates ask POS questions or pull up training videos directly at the register,” Murat Tokad, president and CEO of Martin & Bayley Inc., parent company of Huck’s Market, told NACS.
