Pennsylvania-based Rutter’s is gearing up for America’s 250th birthday this summer with a season of prizes during Rutter’s Summer of Freedom Sweepstakes, the retailer told NACS in a press release.

Rutter’s said that registered rewards members will have the chance to win thousands of prizesthrough more than $400,000 in giveaways. A new feature of the games this year, participants can now choose where to place their sweepstakes ballots, selecting the prize they want to win most, including:

  • $25,000 cash grand prize
  • Free fuel for a year
  • $250 Rutter’s gift cards

Plus, the retailer said there will be instant prizes, with free products from brands such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Red Bull, Monster Energy, Celsius and Hershey. The 2026 Summer of Freedom Sweepstakes runs through September 1, 2026.

To participate, customers must be a registered rewards member. For each participating item purchased at a Rutter’s location, customers will receive a chance to play for instant prizes or earn a sweepstakes ballot.

Rutter’s operates a chain of over 87 convenience stores in states including Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia, and opens multiple new stores a year that are at least 10,000 square feet in size.

Almost always, these new locations are built from the ground up, said Chris Hartman, vice president of fuels, advertising and development, though about once a decade the chain might open in an existing building.
