California-based Loop Neighborhood Markets announced the deployment of Genie, Tote’s Store Associate AI Agent, according to a press release sent to NACS. Loop deployed Genie independently of its point-of-sale system, bringing AI-native associate support to stores without overhauling existing technology infrastructure, the companies said.

“Since launch, associates have used Genie to handle inquiries on customer service, POS operations, maintenance, payments and more, with zero escalations and 100% first-contact resolution. … Delivering that experience consistently across shifts and locations depends on associates having the right knowledge at the right moment,” Loop said.

Tote said that Genie supports associates in multiple languages and works via voice commands and chat to provide answers. Genie can also take actions and execute transactions autonomously.

“We’re not interested in AI that just looks good in a pitch. Tote's Genie agent works in our stores, gives our associates the answers they need in the moment, and delivers results from day one. This is just the beginning of what agentic technology can do for our business,” said Varish Goyal, president and CEO, Loop Neighborhood Markets.

In February, The Spinx Company announced that it selected Tote to provide point-of-sale, self-service kiosks and foodservice technology across all its locations.
