BALTIMORE—High’s announced the introduction of Skip frictionless checkout in 36 locations by the end of May. Skip is a mobile payment option that allows customers to purchase items on their phones without visiting a cashier in store. The app can be found in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. High’s said it is the first convenience store chain to bring frictionless checkout to Baltimore.
“Skip frictionless checkout is a key first piece in our digital platform moving forward,” said Noah Sanders, senior analytics and implementation manager for the chain. “It will enhance our customers’ in-store experience along with the reboot of the High’s loyalty program and mobile app coming soon.”
Store associates are notified when a Skip customer enters the store and are able to monitor their purchase during their visit. This allows the customer freedom to shop at their own pace and leave without spending time waiting in line for the next available cashier.
7-Eleven stores last year launched a similar app-based scan and pay program in Texas.
