WASHINGTON, D.C—On November 8, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) extended regional emergency declarations for Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Virginia. This includes a waiver of hours of service requirements.
The declarations were issued due to anticipated damage from hurricanes this fall. The extension has been issued to ensure that vital supplies can get to the states, which are still dealing with the aftereffects of Hurricanes Florence and Michael. The declarations are now in effect through December 9, 2018.
