Retailer Membership Types & Dues

NACS offers five (5) member classifications for convenience retailers. Review the classifications and corresponding dues calculations below. While NACS membership is maintained at the company level, benefits flow down to your entire team.

Domestic Retail Membership

In the United States alone, there are 150,174 convenience stores, which conduct 160 million transactions a day and have annual sales of almost $906 billion. Let’s put that in context: U.S. convenience stores equal the cumulative count of grocery + drug + dollar + Starbucks + McDonald’s. Representing more than 90,000 stores, NACS is the essential community for convenience and fuel retailers committed to acquiring the knowledge, connections and advocacy needed to become more profitable.

Domestic retail membership is open to U.S. convenience retailing companies of all sizes. Membership dues are paid annually and are calculated on your combined total sales for all convenience and fuel retailing locations from the most recent year.

Jobber/Dealer Membership

Through the NACS Jobber/Dealer Membership, jobbers can create a stronger partnership with their dealers that helps drive sales and create a brighter future for their dealers’ businesses. When dealers thrive, jobbers benefit. Bring NACS Membership to your dealers today.

How It Works. Under this membership, the jobber will pay dues for their company as well as any of the dealers in their network they wish to offer NACS membership to. Dues are based on the domestic structure below, and then add $40 per dealer. The $40 dealer fee covers a full retail membership for each dealer with up to five locations. Dealers exceeding five locations should apply for domestic membership separate from the jobber.

I quickly found that my dealers aren’t the only ones benefiting from the NACS membership. I’ve been able to learn best practices in the fuel business on a weekly, often daily basis.

Allied Retail Membership

With the definition of convenience evolving, now dollar stores, e-commerce, and other non-convenience retailers learn how to profit in convenience from the best.

Allied retail membership is available for non-convenience retailers that offer a significant product or service category traditionally associated with a convenience retailer. Formats include drug, mass, grocery, dollar store, specialty store and micro market. As an allied retailer, your business will benefit from proprietary NACS data, programming and peer-networking in areas that align with convenience retailing.

Membership dues are paid annually and calculated on your combined total sales for all retailing locations from the most recent year. While the intricacies of your business overlap with traditional convenience retailing, our efforts on Capitol Hill may not. Your dues structure is reduced accordingly.
