RaceTrac opened a 40,000-square-foot distribution center in Ascension Parish, Louisiana, this month according to local outlet WBRZ.

The outlet reported that the new center in Geismar is “700% larger than the company’s previous Louisiana-based location.”

At the site’s grand opening Wednesday, the company said the “state-of-the-art facility will enhance RaceTrac’s supply chain capabilities, create new employment opportunities throughout Ascension Parish and support the growing demand for its products across the region.”

The facility is located at 6535 Industrial Drive near Old Jefferson Highway. The company added that the project, which is a nearly $9 million investment, will support RaceTrac’s 62-store footprint across Louisiana.

In April, Wawa also made an announcement regarding a distribution center. The retailer said it expanded its partnership with McLane Company Inc., as it continues to grow in the Midwest, Mid Atlantic and Northeast. McLane’s Bluegrass distribution center in Hebron, Kentucky, will serve new Wawa locations in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.

McLane and Wawa have worked together for more than 20 years, and McLane currently services over 1,100 Wawa stores out of distribution centers in Kentucky, Virginia, New Jersey and Florida. McLane’s Mid Atlantic distribution center, located in Fredericksburg, Virginia, began servicing Wawa’s existing east coast markets last fall to support the retailer’s expansion in the region.

In other recent RaceTrac news, the retailer announced this week that it is partnering with RoadFlex, a fleet expense management and fuel card platform, to “offer fleet operators across the U.S. enhanced access to competitive fuel pricing, expanded acceptance and powerful spend controls.”

RaceTrac said the collaboration supports both companies’ commitment to innovation and transparency, while helping businesses reduce costs without sacrificing convenience or control.
