Poppy Markets LLC, is set to acquire Engineer’s Associates Inc. and its affiliates, dba National Petroleum, according to a press release from Matrix Capital Markets Group Inc., who advised the sale.

Headquartered in Newark, California, National operates a chain of 11 convenience stores and retail fuels outlets and a wholesale fuels distribution business that supplies over 100 dealers. Poppy Markets is based in Union City, California.

National Petroleum was founded when partners Sanjiv Patel and Nick Patel acquired a 76 branded gas station with a three-bay repair shop in Berkeley, California in 2004. Over the next several years, the company continued to build its portfolio of company operated gas stations with convenience stores in the San Franciso Bay area. In 2013, National expanded into wholesale fuels distribution and launched its proprietary National fuel brand at both company operated and dealer sites.

Poppy Markets first opened in Santa Clara in June 2013 and has now expanded to 50+ locations throughout the Bay Area, Sacramento and Southern California.

In December, Poppy Markets opened a new location in Adelanto, California.

"I couldn’t be more excited to bring Poppy Market to the incredible community of Adelanto," said Varish Goyal, CEO of Poppy Market and member of the NACS Executive Committee. "This is a huge milestone for us, and we can’t wait to be part of the neighborhood.

Whether you’re stopping in for a quick snack, filling up your gas tank, or just looking for a friendly place to connect, we’re here to make every visit memorable. Building strong relationships with our communities is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re looking forward to creating amazing moments with the residents and visitors of Adelanto."
