Pri Mar Petroleum in St. Joseph, Michigan, is selling the third-generation business to two Michigan companies “with similar long track records of growth, service and family ownership, all centered historically on a traditional local oil company,” reported local outlet Moody On The Market.

According to the report, the Marzke family, who owns the business, will sell Pri Mar Petroleum in two separate transactions to two Michigan buyers—one focusing on convenience stores and one on bulk fuels and lubricants for industrial, farm and residential customers.

“The Pri Mart group of 13 convenience stores and gas stations will become part of the EZ Mart chain of nearly 200 stores, headquartered in Bear Lake, Michigan. Like Pri Mart, EZ Marts operate under several gasoline brands and will continue to operate the Pri Mart stores under the current Amoco, BP and Citgo brands,” wrote Moody On The Market.

EZ Mart stores will now reportedly stretch from Berrien County, Michigan, to Munising in the Upper Peninsula and east to the Lansing area.

In earlier acquisition news, this month Sunoco LP and Parkland Corporation announced “they have entered into a definitive agreement whereby Sunoco will acquire all outstanding shares of Parkland in a cash and equity transaction valued at approximately USD $9.1 billion, including assumed debt.”

The deal is “a move the companies said would create the largest independent fuel distributor in the Americas. The deal follows Parkland's strategic review, initiated in March, following persistent pressure from Simpson Oil, Parkland’s largest shareholder with a nearly 20% stake, and supported by activist investor Engine Capital,” reported Reuters.
