Chobani is investing $500 million into the expansion of its Twin Falls plant, “increasing production by 50% and adding over 500,000 square feet of new space,” according to a press release sent to NACS. Chobani said the expansion is expected to create a minimum of 160 new jobs.
“Already the largest natural food production facility in the country, the expanded Twin Falls plant will span 1.6 million square feet and feature 24 production lines. Employing more than 1,200 people earning wages almost 12% higher than the regional average, this investment will continue to fuel the local economy and shape the future of food,” Chobani said.
Since 2012, Chobani said it has invested over $1.3 billion in the region, including:
- $1 million invested in the University of Idaho’s dairy research facility
- Nearly $500,000 in scholarships for Idaho students
- Millions of meals donated to fight food insecurity
In December 2023, Chobani acquired La Colombe for $900 million. La Colombe continues to operate as an independent brand.
"At a time where the industry has faced challenges to grow sales, Chobani has delivered double-digit, volume-led sales growth and considerable margin expansion. We have never been stronger or better positioned to chart our next chapter of growth," stated Chobani founder and chief executive officer Hamdi Ulukaya at the time of purchase.
