Wawa and EV charging provider Ionna are partnering to grow the retailer’s EV charging network, with a new Rechargery at Wawa set to open next week in Daytona Beach, Florida, according to a press release. More Rechargeries at Wawa are already under construction in Florida in Bradenton, Pensacola and Orlando.

This is Ionna's single largest EV charging commitment to date, the provider said, and the addition of Rechargeries at Wawa brings Ionna closer to the goal of 30,000 bays by 2030. Ionna’s network currently has 3,064 bays contracted, with 400 more under construction.

"With an ongoing commitment to providing our customers with speed and convenience, our new collaboration with Ionna does just that," said Rich Makin, chief fuel officer, Wawa. "As we continue to expand our EV services, we are thrilled to provide our customers with a one-stop for fresh food, beverages and EV charging!"

Other retailers have also expanded their EV charging networks. Earlier this year, Jacksons Food Stores tapped OnPoint EV Solutions to help install Level 3 Fast Charging Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations at nine locations. Pilot reached a milestone of more than 130 fast-charging locations in over 25 states.
