As the Los Angeles area begins to recover from the devastating wildfires that broke out this month, Circle K is supporting the American Red Cross to help local communities, the retailer said in a statement to NACS. Circle K will offer 40 cents off per gallon on fuel purchases on Thursday, January 16, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and will donate a portion of the proceeds from the three-hour event to Red Cross relief efforts in California.
More than 240 Circle K locations across California, Oregon and Washington will participate.
“These wildfires have affected so many lives across our community so close after the holidays,” said George Wilkins, vice president of operations for Circle K’s west coast business unit, based in Corona, California. “This is why it’s important for us to dedicate this fuel event to supporting the relief and recovery efforts, and we’re thankful for our partnership with the American Red Cross here on the West Coast.”
Also aiding the effort is the California Fuels & Convenience Alliance (CFCA) and the Fuel Relief Fund to provide critical resources and emergency fuel to affected communities.
CFCA is also advocating for an hours-of-service waiver for those aiding in the emergency response effort. These waivers would allow vehicles engaged in fuel transportation for emergency relief efforts to extend their maximum driving limits, ensuring that fuel can be delivered promptly to areas in desperate need.

“As a foundation rooted in community support, the NACS Foundation is committed to connecting our industry’s resources with those who need them most. The devastation caused by the recent wildfires in California is heartbreaking, but it’s also a reminder of our industry’s vital role in moments of crisis,” said Kevin O’Connell, executive director of the NACS Foundation. “By partnering with organizations like Circle K, the American Red Cross, the California Fuels & Convenience Alliance (CFCA) and the Fuel Relief Fund, we’re helping to provide critical resources—from emergency fuel to essential supplies—to affected families and first responders. Together, we are demonstrating the collective power of convenience retailers to bring relief, recovery and hope to the communities we serve.”
