Sunoco has partnered with global commerce platform WEX to add its DriverDash mobile payment app to thousands of Sunoco stations across the United States, according to a press release from WEX.

The DriverDash app allows commercial fleet drivers to pay for fuel directly from their smartphone instead of using a physical card, the company said. “Built on WEX’s closed-loop payments network, the app streamlines transactions, strengthens security and provides real-time visibility for fleet managers,” the company said. WEX also reported that the DriverDash app allows for less administrative overhead and greater accuracy as it offers real-time electronic receipts, odometer capture and automated data transmission.

Sunoco locations will begin rolling out DriverDash capability immediately, expanding nationwide over the coming months.

“This expansion with Sunoco reflects the growing demand for digital-first solutions in fleet mobility,” said Brian Fournier, senior vice president and general manager, North American Mobility at WEX. “By bringing DriverDash to more locations nationwide, we’re helping to give drivers a faster, safer, more convenient way to fuel up while enabling fleet managers to gain greater visibility and control. It’s about combining everyday ease for drivers with strategic value for the businesses that manage them.”

The integration with Sunoco brings the DriverDash mobile payment capability to nearly 40,000 locations.
