Plus, Wawa is set to open a new store in Maryland; Sheetz makes ‘significant progress’ on its new distribution center.
QuikTrip recently opened a new store in Lake Lotawana, Missouri, according to a LinkedIn post from the company. To celebrate the new location, the retailer decided to make “extra special magic happen” for Alice, a local child and one of the “biggest QuikTrip fans.”
“The team rolled out the red carpet: her own QT employee shirt and name tag, a stash of Lay’s swag (soccer jersey, journal, drink cozy, water bottle and hat), plus she handed out coupons, greeted guests from behind the counter and met our cleaning robot… who she named ‘Cleany,’” the retailer said in the post. “Alice called it the best gift ever, and seeing her light up our store was a real joy. Moments like these are why we do what we do.”
Meanwhile Buc-ee’s is set to open its St. Lucie, Florida, location in 2027 on I-95, while the Ocala, Florida, location is planned to open in 2028, reported local news outlet WFLA.
Earlier this month, NACS Daily reported that Buc-ee’s is set to officially break ground soon on its first Wisconsin location in Oak Creek.
Wawa is opening its second location in the Hagerstown, Maryland area this month, reported local news outlet Herald Mail. The grand opening will be held on Thursday, December 18.
Stewart’s Shops recently opened a new store in Cicero, New York. “Located in walking distance from the Gillette Road Middle School and a short distance from several residential developments, our new Cicero shop is the perfect spot for commuters and the local community,” Stewart’s said. “Our 4,500-square-foot shop offers a variety of breakfast sandwiches, lunch offerings, easy dinner options and plenty of snacks and treats.”
To celebrate the opening of its sixth location in Onondaga County, Stewart’s donated $1,000 to the middle school and $1,000 to support Cicero-North Syracuse High School’s green closet program.
Meanwhile, Sheetz said it has made “significant progress” on its $169 million distribution facility in Findlay, Ohio. Sheetz confirmed the project is advancing on schedule, positioning the facility for an official opening in fall 2026, reported local news outlet WFIN.
When opened, the facility will reportedly house new food preparation and distribution services for Sheetz. The facility will “directly support Sheetz’s growing presence across Ohio, where the company already operates more than 130 stores and is rapidly expanding in Columbus, Dayton and Toledo,” wrote WFIN.
