Pilot Travel Centers LLC, North America’s largest travel center network, announced plans to add 35 travel centers and remodel more than 75 locations across the U.S. and Canada over the course of this year.
As part of the growth initiative, the company will build 10 new travel centers, adding over 500 truck parking spaces to the road, and integrate 25 existing dealer locations into its network, giving drivers access to more stops that are eligible for Pilot’s myRewards loyalty perks and other company programs. It will also add 30 maintenance and tire services shops to its travel centers through its partnership with Southern Tire Mart, totaling more than 85 locations.
“Expanding into new communities and enhancing our services remains a key part of our long-term strategy,” said Allison Cornish, senior vice president of store modernization and development at Pilot Travel Centers LLC, in a press release. “We continually evaluate our network with our guests’ needs in mind and are making significant investments in our travel centers to provide drivers an exceptional experience at every stop along their journey.”
That investment includes remodeling 75 locations this year as part of its three-year, $1 billion New Horizons initiative to remodel over 400 stores across North America, focusing on curb-to-counter makeovers with refreshed restrooms and showers, new kitchens, expanded food and beverage options and updated technology. After celebrating its 100th store remodel in December, the 75 planned 2024 remodels will bring the company’s total to almost 200 updated stores since launching the initiative in 2022.
To celebrate its March remodels, Pilot is offering a one-time 25% discount on food and beverage purchases for rewards members at its recently updated locations in Warsaw, North Carolina; Sutton West Virginia; Tumwater, Washington; Lake Point, Utah; and Wichita Falls, Texas.
The 2024 growth plans follow 30 new locations that were added in 2023, when Pilot built 10 new locations and added 20 dealer locations to its network last year.
Pilot Travel Centers is the largest operator of travel centers in North America with over 750 locations under the Pilot and Flying J brands. In January, Pilot was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway in an $11 billion deal.
