Wawa announced that it will host the grand opening of its first Alabama location on April 24, reported AL.com. Doors will open at 8 a.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to follow at 10 a.m.

Openings are expected to follow this summer with stores in Mobile and Robertsdale, Alabama. Wawa plans to open up to 10 stores in Baldwin and Mobile counties over the next several years. Each location will employ about 35 associates, said AL.com.

Two years ago, the Pennsylvania-based retailer announced that it was launching a wave of expansion across the Florida Panhandle and central Gulf Coast. In June 2023, the company broke ground on the first Alabama location, a site on the south side of Fairhope.

Recently, Wawa broke ground on its first Georgia stores. Amidst the celebratory groundbreaking events, the company announced that it plans to build and open 26 stores in southern and coastal Georgia—opening three to four stores per year.

GPM, a subsidiary of ARKO Corp, broke ground in anticipation of its 65th Fast Market store. The Fast Market branded location is scheduled to open later this year in Gilbert, Arizona.

The 5,600 square foot store will offer bean-to-cup hot and iced coffee, Frazil frozen drinks, donuts, cookies, breakfast sandwiches, Nathan’s hot dogs, Tornados, fried chicken, cheeseburgers, mozzarella sticks, chicken wings and $4.99 pizza in both take-and-bake and served hot, and a $2.99 Tyson chicken sandwich offered to fas REWARDS loyal members.

The new location will also feature 35+ parking spaces, four electric vehicle charging ports and seven fuel dispensers, providing 14 gas fueling points and four diesel fueling points.

TravelCenters of America, part of the bp portfolio, celebrated the opening of a TA in Atkins, Arkansas. With this opening there are a total of five TA locations in Arkansas.

TA Atkins offers two QSRs (opening later this year), six diesel fueling positions with DEF, eight gasoline fueling positions, 100 truck parking spaces, 50 car parking spaces and more.

Circle K recently opened a store in Post Falls, Idaho. The new store includes a 1,458-square-foot car wash, 12 fuel pumps, two high-speed diesel pumps, a propane dispenser and an RV dump and wash station. The 5,200-square-foot building will offer a walk-in beer cave and hot food station, providing various options from hot dogs to club sandwiches and soda and slushy station and freshly roasted coffee, according to The Spokesman-Review.

With the addition of the Post Falls store, Circle K now operates seven stores in the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene area. Company officials also announced plans to introduce up to five more stores over the next two years.
