TA Celebrates 300 Locations, Announces 2024 Initiatives

Hop Shops and Mirabito Convenience Stores also announced new locations this month.

With the opening of its newly rebuilt location in Walton, Kentucky, TravelCenters of America celebrates reaching the milestone of 300 travel centers.

“Celebrating this achievement is very exciting for both our team members and guests, and we are committed to continued growth and innovation to provide an outstanding experience for all travelers who visit us,” said Debi Boffa, CEO of TravelCenters of America.

TA also announced that it plans to open 20 new locations this year and will donate $2,500 to a local food bank with each opening. Other 2024 strategic initiatives the company announced include:

  • Adding 1,600 new truck parking spaces.
  • The installation of biodiesel blending infrastructure and BP Pulse EV charging stations at select sites throughout the country.
  • Improving guest touchpoints through enhanced store layouts and new benefits to its loyalty program.
  • Upgrading TA Truck Service mobile maintenance and emergency roadside assistance vehicles to better serve its fleet customers and professional drivers.

Earlier this month, a new TA Express opened in Hosston, Louisiana. The new travel center is a franchised site offering fueling, convenience items, dining options and other services for professional drivers and motorists. Other features on the site include RV services, laundry facilities, a driver’s lounge, four showers and a pet area.

Valor Oil announced that it would be expanding the Hop Shops brand with its acquisition of Jumpin’ Jacks Travel Plaza in Lewisport, Kentucky. The main building on the property houses a gas station, convenience store, restaurant, and bank. With the acquisition, Valor Oil now operates 15 Hop Shops locations throughout Kentucky and Ohio.

The Lewisport location is the second of three Hop Shops coming to the Owensboro area, with the first being the HawesWay 60 Travel Plaza purchased in 2023. The third location is expected to be finalized this year and will be in Reo, Indiana.

In New York, Mirabito Convenience Stores opened a new travel center location. Located in Parish, New York, the location offers a variety of food and fuel offerings, as well as a lounge area, high-top table seating and a tech corner for charging devices.
