From fundraising campaigns to volunteering, c-stores across the country continue to be cornerstones of their local communities.

RaceTrac will host its 11th annual Run for Research 5K race on Saturday, September 14. As in past years, 100% of registration fees will benefit The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s (MJFF’s) global research programs seeking better treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s disease.

“We know that Parkinson’s affects nearly 30,000 in Georgia, and its impact is devastating for those living with the disease and for their loved ones,” said Melanie Isbill, chief brand officer at RaceTrac and a member of MJFF’s board of directors since March 2021.

RaceTrac’s Run for Research is part of the company’s wider RaceTrac Gives Back initiative which supports several causes. Each year in April during Parkinson’s Awareness Month, RaceTrac guests have the opportunity to add one dollar to their in-store purchases or select a special, one-dollar candy bar to support The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

In 2023, between the Run for Research 5K race and proceeds from April’s RaceTrac Gives Back in-store promotions, RaceTrac raised over $1.2 million in support of Parkinson’s research.

In New Mexico, Yesway reached its fundraising goal of $200,000 through the generosity of its supplier partners and Yesway and Allsup's customers and employees.

With an initial commitment to donate $100,000, Yesway launched this campaign to support and aid the New Mexico communities in and around Ruidoso—which are among the communities the company serves in the state—that were deeply impacted as the result of catastrophic wildfires.

Eight Wawa general managers in central Florida volunteered at a Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County (HFHCC) Community Build Day, reported Chronicle Online. Additionally, the managers presented HFHCC with a $1,000 donation from the Wawa Foundation.

In one day, the eight general managers from Wawa contributed 32 hours of work, equating to almost a week’s worth of work toward the completion of a future HFHCC home.

EG America hosted an event for its newest employee resource group Allies and Advocates for All. The event featured guest speaker Loretta Claiborne, who is a nine-time Special Olympic World Games medalist. Following her presentation, EG America’s retail operations team presented her with a $5,000 donation to the Special Olympics.
