Wawa is opening another location in Georgia as part of a multiyear plan to expand in the state, reported What Now Atlanta. The next location in Waycross, Georgia, will include 16 fueling spaces and a 5,537-square-foot convenience store.

The company began construction this year on its first Georgia locations, and has either broken ground or planned store locations in Bainbridge, Hinesville, Brunswick, Pooler, Jesup, and Valdosta. Wawa has expressed plans to open three to four stores in southern and coastal Georgia per year over the next five to eight years for a total of 26 stores.

Wawa also recently announced it would break ground on September 10 on its first store in the Miami Valley area of Ohio.

Also in Ohio, a new Sheetz opened this week in Dayton. The 6,100-square-foot Sheetz features six double-sided gas pumps, a drive-thru, and 56 parking spaces. It marks the retailer’s eighth store in western Ohio. In April 2022, Sheetz announced plans to open 20 new stores in western Ohio in a five-year span. The company has opened seven stores in the Dayton-Springfield area in less than a year, reported the Dayton Daily News.

During the grand opening, Sheetz gave away prizes to visitors, including the chance to win free Sheetz for a year, plus free self-serve coffee and soft drinks all day. Customers who donated a non-perishable food item received a branded thermal bag.

The company donated $2,500 to the Shared Harvest Food Bank and $2,500 to the Special Olympics of Ohio for the grand opening.

Royal Farms is opening its first location in Carrollton, Virginia, on September 3. The location will feature 12 fueling positions and be open 24 hours per day.

"Opening in Carrollton, Virginia, is an exciting milestone for us," said Elaina Leatherbury, district leader of Royal Farms, in a press release. "We are dedicated to bringing our world-famously fresh food and unparalleled convenience to the wonderful people of Carrollton. We can't wait to become a part of this vibrant community and serve our new neighbors."

For the grand opening, Royal Farms will be hosting a ticketed soft opening event where customers can visit the new store and get one free meal from the soft opening menu.

Kwik Trip opened a new location in Becker, Minnesota, last week, with discounted drinks and samples for the grand opening.
