A severe weather outbreak ripped across the Midwest over the weekend, producing dozens of tornadoes that traveled through communities from Texas to Iowa. Thousands of residents are now in the process of sifting through the debris of destroyed homes and businesses, trying to recover whatever belongings remain, reported Fox Weather.
After the devastating storms and tornadoes this past weekend, Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey’s launched a roundup campaign at Casey’s stores across Iowa, Nebraska and Oklahoma, supporting the American Red Cross through May 10.
“When our community needs us, we're there. Our neighbors in Iowa, Nebraska and Oklahoma are picking up the pieces after severe storms and tornadoes. Help Casey's support the response and recovery by rounding up your purchase when you shop at Casey&rs; in Iowa, Nebraska, and Oklahoma through May 10,” the retailer said.
Casey’s also announced it will also make a $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross.
Earlier this month, Casey’s also donated $100,000 to the Des Moines Area Community College’s (DMACC) Transportation Institute. The donation will go toward upgrading and expanding the DMACC Transportation Institute. The project, which started last year, will be completed in 2025. It will include a three-story garage; new concrete pad; and demolition of the old Transportation Institute building.
