John Cena Challenges NACS’ Henry Armour to Bout

Wrestling superstar announces he’s back in the ring… and against a retail superstar.

John Cena confirmed rumors today that he will be a part of WrestleMania 40, and he is bringing a unique opponent: NACS President and CEO Henry Armour.

Cena, who served as keynote speaker for the 2023 NACS Show, said that his renewed appreciation of the industry led him to suggest the unusual bout, which will combine a traditional match with in-match commentary on how to run retail businesses.

WrestleMania 40 is a two-day event that takes place this coming weekend, April 6 and 7, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. At press time it had not been announced which date the bout will take place.

Cena also will promote franchise opportunities for his new “ghost” c-store concept, U Can’t C Me, and NACS has agreed to provide consulting services.

Following his NACS Show speech last year in Atlanta, Cena flew to St. Louis to appear live on WWE’s SmackDown. Cena said his first stop after landing in St. Louis would be a visit to a local convenience store for hydration and protein bars.

“That has been my path of action for 20 years,” said Cena at the NACS Show. “This is like the golden era for me. I can now walk into any convenience store and be flooded with options.”

Armour praised Cena for this innovative approach to a match but also warned him to be prepared. “Hold onto your jorts, John, I’m coming for you… but please wear a different outfit than at the Academy Awards,” said Armour.

The 2024 NACS Show will take place October 7-10, 2024, in Las Vegas, and today is April Fools’ Day.
