Stewart’s Shops and the New York Power Authority has installed four new EVolve NY fast chargers at Stewart’s Shop #370 in South Potsdam, according to a company announcement. The chargers will now give EV customers access from “from Watertown to Plattsburgh where there is a scarcity of charging stations.”
Governor Kathy Hochul commented, “More New Yorkers are opting to drive zero-emissions vehicles and that necessitates additional charging infrastructure along well-traveled routes across our great state and in our cities. Opening up this new travel corridor for EV drivers in the North Country will encourage emissions-free travel across the state for tourism, leisure or business and enable New York to continue to set a trend for reducing climate-altering emissions from the transportation sector.”
The additional chargers support Stewart’s Shops strategic sustainability initiatives in the region. “The latest generation Evolve NY charging station at our South Potsdam shop is testament to our commitment to greener solutions and promoting electric vehicles in the Northeast,” said Stewart’s Shops senior vice president Chad Kiesow.
“This new EVolve charger will play a vital role in reducing range anxiety and contributing to a more sustainable future. At Stewart’s Shops, we take pride in our 12 locations already featuring EV charging stations, half of which are equipped with NYPA’s EVolve NY universal chargers. By strategically expanding our charging infrastructure, we aim to make EV charging more accessible, ensuring a smoother and more confident experience for electric vehicle owners.”
To celebrate the chargers, NYPA is sponsoring a promotion at all six of Stewart’s Shops locations which offer EVolve NY chargers. From September 18 through September 24, charger customers can mention the code “Drive Electric” to the cashier to get a free 12-ounce hot coffee.
Last week, Stewart’s Shops announced the newest location in Gouverneur, New York, the second in the village. Read more about the c-store’s expansion in NACS Daily.
