Circle K hosted its pop-up “Fuel Day” in Austin, Texas, yesterday. With more than 50 participating gas stations, customers could save 40 cents per gallon at the pump from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m on Thursday.

Circle K also gave out samples of its private brand items and fuel discount cards. KVUE TV in Austin reported that the average gas price in Austin is $3.45, five cents higher than the Texas state average of $3.40. Both prices are below the U.S. national average gas price of $3.71.

In March Circle K offered a similar promotion, giving drivers in parts of Texas 30 cents off per gallon. At the time, Francis LaPointe, vice president of Texas Circle K, said, “We know how much our customers enjoyed our last Fuel Day in February. Being in the business of keeping our customers happy and offering value every day, we wanted to host another one, with an even bigger discount.”

Circle K offered a similar promotion in May. “After an overwhelming response from customers, we are thrilled to bring back Circle K Fuel Day in a bigger way,” said Louise Warner, senior vice president, global fuels, for Circle K, at the time. “With summer right around the corner, we want to thank our customers for their loyalty by providing them an opportunity to fuel their adventures and enjoy some great savings.”

Circle K, which is part of Alimentation Couche-Tard, was founded in El Paso, Texas, and much of its early growth occurred in New Mexico and Arizona.
