Wawa is opening two stores in Jacksonville, Florida, over the course of the next two weeks, reports the Jacksonville Daily Record. With these, Wawa will have opened 14 stores in Jacksonville alone since 2017.

One store opens August 24. “As part of the opening, Wawa will hold its Hoagies for Heroes hoagie-building competition. First responders from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Police Athletic League will compete to see who can build the most hoagies in three minutes. Wawa will donate $1,000 to each department’s charity of choice,” the paper reports. This location will offer free coffee until Sept. 3.

Wawa, best known for its hoagies, recently unveiled a pizza offering. In December, the retailer announced plans to expand into Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.

In other expansion news, Kum & Go’s first location in the state of Michigan is officially open. The location is in Grand Rapids, in the western side of the state. The retailer will be expanding into the Detroit area in 2024, with plans for 50-plus stores around the metro area.

Love’s also recently announced a new site, in Tonopah, Nevada.

“Love’s is thrilled to open its latest location in the great Silver State of Nevada,” said Shane Wharton, president of Love’s. “It’s ours sixth location in Nevada and our team members are ready to proudly serve the wonderful community of Nye County.” The location will include both a Chester’s Chicken and a Godfather’s Pizza.
