OCALA, Fla.—A new Buc-ee’s will be built in Ocala, Florida, between Gainesville and Orlando. The store will be located at a new $4 million interchange built with a state transportation grant.

Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, announced the new interchange at a press conference in Ocala. “By making strategic investments like today’s $4 million Job Growth Grant Fund Award, Florida will continue to fuel economic growth across the state. Ocala’s ideal location at the center of our state makes it prime for new manufacturing opportunities and for visitors looking for a place to stop and grab some beaver nuggets.”

Beaver nuggets are a signature foodservice item at Buc-ee’s, which DeSantis described as “basically like the Shangri-La of service stations.” During the event DeSantis threw bags of beaver nuggets into the crowd. “These things are kind of addicting, so beware,” he said.

The Ocala Buc-ee’s will be 80,000 square feet in size, with 120 fuel pumps and 720 parking spaces.

The founder and CEO of Buc-ee’s, Arch “Beaver” Aplin, was also at the event. “We have had quite a lot of success in the two stores we have operating on I-95 [in Florida]. We’ve known that I-75 would be a great interstate for a long time, looking for the right piece of property. So when we realized there was an opportunity, this entire new interchange would be created, then it really opened our eyes to the opportunities here,” he said. Buc-ee’s currently has stores in St. Augustine and Daytona Beach, Florida.

Buc-ee’s is opening it’s Auburn, Alabama location today.
