ALTOONA, Pa.—Sheetz has made the list of PEOPLE Magazine’s 100 Companies That Care 2022, reports WTAJ. The company came in at No. 64 on this year’s list, and it’s the second time in three years that the c-store chain has made the list.

“It is an honor to be included in such an incredible list and be alongside companies that also take pride in their commitment to their employees and communities they serve,” Travis Sheetz, president and CEO of Sheetz, told WTAJ.

According to PEOPLE, “the businesses on PEOPLE's annual list go above and beyond to honor their employees, uplift their communities and make the world a better place.”

Sheetz was recognized on the list for its charitable giving and the support it provides employees. The rankings on the list is based off employee surveys and data from companies. The surveys ask employees about relevant experiences on how their workplaces have made a difference in their lives and in their communities.

"One thing I have always said about Sheetz is they take care of their people," an employee told PEOPLE. "Many companies are only focused on customers, but Sheetz is just as equally concerned about the well-being of their employees. There are endless benefits, and some benefits are rare or just not offered at all at other gas stations.

Late last month, Sheetz announced it expanded its tuition discount program for its employees by partnering with Western Governors University. Sheetz’ employees are now eligible for annual tuition reimbursement of $5,250 per year per employee if they are enrolled in one of WGU’s programs.

Employees can also receive tuition reimbursement for other schools, as well. In 2021, Sheetz more than doubled the amount it granted through its tuition program, which was previously $1,500 per year, per employee.

Last year, Sheetz said it was investing over $70 million in store employee wages.

Sheetz supports the community through its Sheetz for the Kidz program, which has helped more than 150,000 children in need, living in the communities Sheetz serves, celebrate the holidays. Sheetz also supports the Special Olympics and Feeding America.
