ALEXANDRIA, Va.—NHL vets Paul Bissonnette and Ryan Whitney, hosts of the hockey podcast Spittin’ Chiclets, and Barstool Sports have partnered with Labatt USA to launch a new beer brand called Big Deal Brewing. The debut beer underneath the Big Deal Brewing umbrella will be Big Deal Brewing Original Golden Ale, a super-premium golden ale.

According to a news release, over the last year, Bissonnette and the Spittin’ Chiclets team at Barstool have been innovating with the Labatt USA team to create a debut beer for hockey fans and beer drinkers alike. The new beer will be available in select cities in the U.S. and Canada this fall.

Bissonnette, Whitney and the team behind the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast are no strangers to crafting popular adult beverages. In 2019, they launched Pink Whitney with E. & J. Gallo New Amsterdam Vodka and Barstool Sports, which is the No. 1 flavored vodka in North America, according to the release.

Beer and hard beverage collaborations between breweries and c-stores are growing in popularity. Wawa recently partnered with Cape May Brewing Company on the release of a limited-edition “Shore Tea,” while Rutter’s launched its Spiked Tea Cooler in partnership with Lancaster Brewing Co. in May. Also in May, OnCue partnered with Skydance Brewing to introduce a limited-edition craft beer called OK Heritage Ale as part of OnCue’s local brewery collaboration series.

NACS Magazine dove into the beer collaboration trend in “Crushing on Craft Brews.”
