SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—One man’s prank meal has become a reality. Kyle Scheele, a motivational speaker, author and content creator, pulled a prank on a Springfield, Missouri, Kum & Go by placing a life-sized cardboard cutout for his fictional “Kyle Scheele Meal” in the c-store, complete with an image of him holding a pizza-shaped guitar. The sign stayed in the store for days.
The move was recorded through a TikTok post on his account, which quickly become viral. “I’ve always wanted my own influencer meal. If it has to be at a gas station, so be it,” Scheele told WHO13. The video amassed 20 million views on TikTok and inspired users to start asking Kum & Go about the meal. Many also tagged the gas station chain on social media.
And then Kum & Go joined in on the fun, commenting “We won’t tell if you won’t” on the video. The c-store company also tweeted about it saying “what is all this about” with a screenshot of multiple users asking Kum & Go to make the Kyle Scheele meal. So they did.
“Kum & Go is excited to answer the demands of our fans and announce the launch of the Kyle Scheele Meale. The Meale consists of a ‘Pizza Sandwich’ (2 slices of pizza) and a 12oz Red Bull, all for $5,” Kum & Go wrote in a statement.
The Des Moines, Iowa, company partnered with Red Bull for the meal. It also donated $2 from every “Meale” to No Kid Hungry, for a total of up to $10,000. Red Bull also offered to match the donation, according to Scheele.
“Kum & Go is thrilled to partner with Kyle on such a humorous, unexpected initiative that aligns with Kum & Go’s commitment to fighting food insecurity in our towns and cities,” said Kum & Go.
