ORLANDO, Fla.—In August, Powerball will add a third weekly drawing to its lineup, the Lottery Post News reports. Officials this week announced the expanded multistate lottery, with a Monday drawing joining the current Wednesday and Saturday drawings.
“Our players really enjoy Powerball, and we are pleased to offer them the option of a third weekly drawing,” Mississippi Lottery Corporation President Tom Shaheen said about the announcement. “By having an additional draw-night, there is a greater opportunity for faster growing jackpots and more cash winnings.”
The first Powerball Monday drawing will be on August 23, with tickets available for that drawing starting on August 22. The additional drawing will not change the odds, rules or set cash prizes and the Powerball ticket price will stay at $2.
Idaho lawmakers recently decided to withdraw from the multistate lottery game. For more on convenience stores and lotteries, read “Place Your Bets” and “Game Changer” in NACS Magazine.
