The c-store chain donates cash, encourages customers to “Round Up the Change.”

RENO, Nev.—Maverik, with 350 locations across 11 states, has partnered with Feeding America to support people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic through two initiatives, according to KOLOTV.com.

Recently, the company made a $150,000 contribution to Feeding America, which will be distributed to six Feeding America member food banks in communities where Maverik operates. That was followed by the launch of Maverik’s “Round Up the Change for Feeding America” program. Customers are encouraged to round up their transaction to the nearest dollar to benefit the Feeding America network of food banks.

“It’s important to Maverik to give back to the communities where we live and work,” said Chuck Maggelet, president and chief adventure guide, Maverik. “The current pandemic has propelled millions into food insecurity, and food banks are responding to the surge in demand. We are proud to team up with Feeding America to offer our neighbors additional resources to help them obtain access to nutritious food.”

According to Feeding America, every dollar donated to the organization helps secure and distribute 10 meals to people facing hunger. Feeding America works directly with major manufacturers, retailers and suppliers nationwide to secure safe, healthy food that would otherwise go to waste.

NACS and Feeding America have made it easy for large or small companies—even single-store operators—to get involved with local and national food banks in the Feeding America network. Visit www.convenience.org/feedingamerica to learn more.
