ALEXANDRIA, Va.—The NACS Foundation is uniting convenience retailers through their shared commitment to celebrate and recognize frontline workers, first responders, medical personnel and American Red Cross volunteers for 24/7 Day, taking place on July 24.

Now in its third year, the annual event brings together the collective power of the convenience industry to raise awareness and donations for the urgent humanitarian needs of the American Red Cross and spotlights the convenience retail industry’s dedication to support their local heroes. This year’s event will focus on the individuals who continue to unite, uplift and serve our communities, while uncovering and telling the human stories behind these hometown heroes.

Last year, 18 convenience retail partners, representing 20 unique brands and 30,000 store locations across the U.S., joined together for NACS Foundation’s 24/7 Day. Community leader Sheetz, NENA (National Emergency Number Association) and the Foundation’s official media partner GSTV aided in disaster relief funding and more than one million paid media impressions tied to outreach efforts to help celebrate frontline workers who work around the clock serving our communities and supporting disaster relief efforts.

“In our inaugural year, we had three retail partners to help us celebrate those who give back so selflessly, 24/7, in our communities,” said Stephanie Sikorski, executive director of the NACS Foundation, in the NACS Magazine feature, “Thanking Everyday Heroes.” In 2020, 24/7 Day had a 500% increase in participation compared with 2019, thus extending the industry’s appreciation and support of their hometown heroes.

The NACS Foundation is calling on retailers, suppliers or anyone interested in helping to fund industry-wide initiatives to participate in this year’s 24/7 Day through its Response Relief Program. “Convenience is about being there when we’re needed most, and that’s why we wanted to amplify the individual efforts of retailers and suppliers across our industry. We knew that we could do more together. 24/7 was born because we saw an opportunity to create a special day where we could collectively give back to our community heroes, and aid in disaster relief, as an industry,” said Sikorski.
