PURCHASE, N.Y.— PepsiCo has launched revamped two-liter bottles, 25% slimmer than the previous ones, Fox Business reports. This is the first time in close to three decades Pepsi has altered its two-liter design.
Pepsi researched the average hand size to make a more manageable bottle to grip and pour. “This redesign makes it substantially easier for consumers to grab bottles off the shelf and to pour at home. While it has taken an immense amount of work to create this at an operational level, the differentiators and consumer experience make it all worth it,” said Emily Silver, vice president of innovation and capabilities for PepsiCo Beverages North America.
The company’s entire beverage portfolio will begin using the slimmer bottles, including Dr Pepper, Mountain Dew, Crush and Schweppes Ginger Ale. The Coca-Cola Company has had slimmer two-liter bottles for a few years.
Additionally, for consumers who want to drink their apple pie, Pepsi has a new flavor just for them. The limited-edition flavor combines cinnamon and apple with regular Pepsi, USA Today reports. Pepsi Apple Pie won’t be available in stores, but fans can enter a sweepstakes for a free, two-liter bottle by sending a photo or video of their baking snafus to Twitter or TikTok with the hashtag #PepsiApplePieChallenge—and follow @Pepsi. The first 1,500 contestants to enter will be eligible for the contest.
“Failing at baking—especially this year—is nothing to be ashamed of, and we're celebrating those amateur bakers that are truly trying their best during a unique holiday season,” said Todd Kaplan, vice president of marketing at Pepsi.
