NACS Joins COVID-19 Education and Equity Project

The aim is providing open, scientific vaccine information to the public.

December 10, 2020

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—NACS is one of more than 75 health, business and other organizations that has joined the newly formed COVID-19 Vaccine Education and Equity Project to support COVID-19 vaccination, and in particular, to emphasize that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the gold standard to ensure that authorized and approved COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective.

The project wants to encourage open dialogue and effective communications that address any skepticism around the vaccine. This will be done by educating, raising awareness, leading conversations and promoting the impact of the recently developed vaccine. Initial support for the project has been provided by Pfizer Inc., a vaccine developer.

The COVID-19 Vaccine Education and Equity Project is guided by the core belief that approval and dissemination of a COVID-19 vaccine must be based on:

  • Robust clinical trials that include diverse patient populations
  • Completion and public disclosure of results from Phase 3 clinical trials
  • Authorization and approval based on evidence generated from clinical trials and well-established review processes at FDA
  • Transparent and ongoing post-marketing safety surveillance

The COVID-19 Vaccine Education and Equity Project is led by the Alliance for Aging Research, HealthyWomen, and the National Caucus and Center on Black Aging.
