PHILADELPHIA—Ryan Schott, a Philadelphia businessman, is a big fan of Wawa stores. When he discovered that Sheetz has more Twitter followers than Wawa, he was appalled.
He is urging people to become Wawa followers and has pledged to donate $10,000 to Philabundance, a non-profit food bank serving the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley region of Pennsylvania, if Wawa’s fan count exceeds Sheetz’s by Dec. 6. That donation could pay for 20,000 meals, reports Patch.com, a local news source.
Schott launched the contest after realizing that Sheetz has about 160,000 more followers than Wawa. “I know that we can all come together for the feel-good goal of having Wawa have more Twitter followers than Sheetz,” Schott said in a video promoting the challenge.
"I'm putting my money where my mouth is," he wrote on the challenge's website. As of last week, the number of Sheetz followers on Twitter was still larger than that of Wawa.
