MEMPHIS and GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn.—Dollar General and FedEx are teaming up to offer parcel pickup and drop-off services at more than 1,500 of the discount retailer’s stores starting this summer, with plans to expand to more than 8,000 stores by the end of 2020, DigitalCommerce360 reports.

Under the FedEx OnSite program, consumers will be able to pick up FedEx packages at their local Dollar General store, plus drop off their pre-packaged and pre-labeled FedEx Express or FedEx ground shipments, the companies announced Monday.

Because most Dollar General Stores are located in rural areas, the partnership means that more than 90% of Americans will live within five miles of a FedEx service location, FedEx said. The Dollar General alliance will increase the FedEx Retail Convenience Network to more than 62,000 retail locations.

“Dollar General is excited to work with FedEx to offer customers a secure, convenient pickup and drop-off location,” said Jason Reiser, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, Dollar General, said in a press release. “We look forward to providing customers with expanded services and accessibility throughout our rural footprint and working with FedEx as we begin the rollout later this year.”
