Publix Releases Mobile App
Customers can soon pay and use digital coupons through their Publix app.

LAKELAND, Fl.—Publix Super Markets Inc. is rolling out a mobile payment system through its iPhone app in phases, reports Charlotte Business Journal.
“By integrating a mobile pay solution within the Publix app, we can offer a way for our customers to plan, shop, save and pay with ease,” said Brian West, Publix spokesman.
Publix users must enter their debit, credit or flexible spending account card on their publix.com account. According to Publix’s website, “it’s fast, easy, and convenient to plan shopping trips instantly, find the latest deals, order online, find meal inspiration, and much more, right on your device. This app is designed to help you shop with pleasure no matter where you are.” You can:
- Add items to your shopping list by scanning bar codes, or look up more info with QR codes.
- Search items, add them to your lists, reorder favorites, and more, with your voice.
Publix’s release comes with competitors. In late 2015, Walmart launched Walmart pay, and The Kroger Co. released Kroger Pay earlier this year. Publix also has the Publix Delivery app and the Publix Pharmacy app.
