TULSA, Okla. — QuikTrip celebrated a significant company milestone when it opened its 800th store location nationwide. QuikTip’s 800th store is in San Antonio. The milestone comes on the heels of the company’s 60-year anniversary in September 2018.
In 1958, Burt Holmes and Chester Cadieux, both 26, invested their life savings to open the first QuikTrip, which was a small grocery store in their hometown of Tulsa. Six decades later, the company has progressed its offerings and geographical footprint and currently operates in 11 states, 14 markets and 800 locations.
With more than $11 billion in revenue, QT has repeatedly received national accolades for its friendly staff and clean stores. The company has 20,000 employees nationwide.
“It’s incredible to think that our company started as a small grocery store and after 60 years, we have reached this point of opening our 800th convenience store,” said QuikTrip Marketing Director Steve Wilson, in a press release. “Our team has worked hard to stay at the forefront of the gasoline and C-store industry.”
QT’s 800th store opens just five years after the company celebrated its 700th store in the St. Louis metro, and seven years since its 600th store opened in the Tulsa area.
“We have perfected the secret sauce of hiring the best people and providing the best possible experience for our customers,” said Wilson. “Our employees make us QuikTrip. They live our brand each and every day, and their friendly relationship with our customers is genuine and special.”
