PepsiCo driverless trucks are now on the road in Texas, Arizona and Arkansas.

On Monday, the company announced a multi-year partnership with autonomous trucking company Gatik.

There are now 41 of the autonomous trucks making deliveries for PepsiCo in those three states since the two companies began working together in 2022, the Wall Street Journal reported. PepsiCo said the vehicles have not yet had an accident on a public road.

PepsiCo workers meet the autonomous trucks at stores to unload deliveries, and the company said drivers who double as sales representatives also have more time to pitch store owners on promotions, according to WSJ.

Across Gatik’s operations, more than 98% of deliveries are on time, the company said.

“Autonomous trucking has reached commercial scale when it operates inside one of the most demanding supply chains on the planet,” said Gatik CEO and Co-founder Gautam Narang in a news release. “That is what Gatik is doing with PepsiCo. Our autonomous trucks are already moving products every day across Texas, Arizona, and Arkansas, and this partnership is proof that Gatik is becoming central to how the world’s largest companies move goods.”

The partnership focuses on PepsiCo’s high-frequency and time-sensitive regional transportation networks where items go daily from location to location, the release stated. The two companies want to add capacity to the networks that are hard to staff and critical for ensuring shelves are stocked.

“Serving our vast network of customers requires a supply chain that is safe, reliable and built for the future,” said Jim Farrell, senior vice president of supply chain at PepsiCo. “Gatik is already operating inside our networks and brings the autonomous freight technology, commercial experience and scale we need to strengthen service, add capacity and move products more consistently for our customers.”

In April, PepsiCo reported that net revenue increased 8.5% in its first quarter year over year, with organic revenue up 2.6%. Its Mountain Dew brand also launched a new campaign: “An American Original – Tasting Great Since ’48,” which the company said honors its Tennessee roots.
