Buc-ee’s this week broke ground in Alamance County on its first North Carolina location, reported local outlet ABC11.

“The massive travel center will be located on Trollingwood-Hawfields Road near the I-40/I-85 interchange, a spot expected to draw heavy traffic from across the region. Wednesday’s groundbreaking marks the start of construction. Developers say the project is targeting a late 2027 opening,” the outlet wrote.

According to the article, the North Carolina Department of Transportation is moving forward with roadway improvements near the site to accommodate expected increases in traffic. Buc-ee's is contributing to the cost of those upgrades, according to state transportation officials.

Buc-ee’s is continuing its expansion, with plans to open in at least six new states by the end of next year.

Onvo said the store is designed to serve area residents, commuters, professional drivers and the Mansfield University student community. Onvo also gave back to the Mansfield community by presenting donations to the Tioga County Special Olympics and Richmond Township.

In Tennessee, Wawa’s first location in the state will officially open on June 18, the company posted on LinkedIn.
