Robot Barista Flies Into Texas Airport

Travelers to and from Austin can perk up at Briggo’s Coffee Haus with a robotic server, without ever talking with a human barista.

AUSTIN, Texas – A robotic Coffee Haus barista created by Briggo, an Austin company, will land at the city’s local airport this month. The 40-square-foot dispensing kiosk can select and roast its own craft coffee at the request of weary travelers, according to Thespoon.tech.

The arrival of Coffee Haus follows in the footsteps of Café X, a Bay Area company, that rolled out a “barista-in-a-box” bricks-and-mortar coffee chop in San Francisco in February.

Both companies want to offer customers in high-traffic areas a turnkey craft coffee solution. Both say they will own and operate their robots. Café X will have a human standing by to attend each robot and help guide customers through their coffee experience. Briggo only relies on humans for re-stocking and required maintenance.

Currently, both companies plan to grow in their specific areas, but both say their inventions have generated interest worldwide.
