TravelCenters of America (TA), part of the BP portfolio, is “expanding its frontline anti-human trafficking training in partnership with TAT (formerly Truckers Against Trafficking), reinforcing the role truck stops and travel centers play in safeguarding freight corridors and the communities that depend on them,” the retailer announced.

TA said the Junction Briefing initiative focuses on education and awareness at sites in high traffic areas of the country.

In 2025, TA and TAT delivered four Junction Briefings in high-traffic transport areas: Commerce City, Colorado; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Phoenix, Arizona; and Eloy, Arizona. “In total, 215 frontline employees across fuel, foodservice, maintenance and operations roles attended the trainings. These briefings laid important groundwork by deepening regional connections and enhancing frontline employee preparedness in some of the nation’s busiest travel corridors,” TA said.

“Human trafficking has no place in our communities, and we want to use our national footprint, our people and our partnerships to help stop it. Our collaboration with TAT enables us to equip frontline employees with the knowledge and confidence to take action when something doesn’t look right. This work is essential, and we are committed to expanding these efforts and support the communities we serve,” said Jason Nordin, CEO, TravelCenters of America.

NACS, along with BP, is supporting anti-human trafficking events in California during the week leading up to the Super Bowl, which takes place February 8 in Santa Clara, California.

The groups are supporting In Our Backyard (IOB), which hosted a Missing Children Public Outreach on January 31 at Santa Clara University, leveraging the weekend prior to the Big Game as a powerful platform to fuel awareness and prevention of human trafficking.

Today, more than 50,000 convenience stores have Freedom Stickers in restrooms that tell victims of human trafficking that there is hope—and help. Read more about how c-stores can fight human trafficking in the December 2025 issue of NACS Magazine.

NACS also provides resources in the fight against human trafficking. NACS members can access free resources from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Blue Campaign, including the Human Trafficking Awareness Guide for Convenience Retail Employees. NACS took part in Homeland Security’s two-day anti-trafficking-awareness event in January 2025 and has been a regular contributor to other events.
